Navajo etched pottery
Susie Charlie is credited with the development of
“Navajo Etched” pottery which is approximately 19 years
old. The Charlie family still continues to produce the pottery to this
day and it is as beautiful as ever.
There is several members of the family that now produce the pottery.
We also carry a few other Navajo families that make the etched pottery.
They are: the Etsitty’s, Morgan’s, and the Whitegoats. The
style itself is a ceramic pot which they apply several colors of paint.
Then, they etch many different animals, symbols, patterns, and designs
on with a simple blade like tool without stencils or other means to
produce a very unique style of pot.
The shapes vary from a small pots, vases, bowls, jewelry boxes, to large
olla sizes.
